Designing software that wants you to use it less

Most consumer software is optimized for one metric: time spent in the app. Every notification, every infinite scroll, every autoplay is tuned toward that goal. At Elevate Life Soft, we try to optimize for the opposite — time spent away from the screen, on purpose.

That constraint changes almost every product decision:

No engagement loops

Phone Pause has no streaks, no daily check-in rewards, and no push notifications nudging you to “come back.” The app’s job is done the moment you lock your phone — it doesn’t need you to open it again today.

Respect defaults

Smart Lock’s thresholds, Scheduled Locks’ timing, and theme preferences are all yours to set. We don’t auto-opt you into aggressive defaults disguised as “recommended settings.”

Measure the right thing

Instead of tracking daily active users as a north star, we pay closer attention to things like: are people actually completing their lock sessions? Are schedules sticking week over week? Those are better signals that the product is doing its job.

Building software this way is slower, and it won’t win attention-economy growth charts. But it’s the only way we know how to build something that elevates people’s lives instead of just their screen time.
